Blue Shark Awareness
Blue Shark is one of the most heavily fished species of shark with upwards of 20 million a year dying at the hands of humans. In the mediterranean, Blue Sharks are listed as critically endangered by the IUCN - yet they are not a protected species. Between 2009 & 2019 Spain was listed as the number 1 exporter of shark meat, exporting up to 85 different countries. Alongside this, studies have shown shark meat being sold within Spain and Italy under false pretenses, often being marketed in restaurants and supermarkets as Tuna or Swordfish. Without people know how important they are to the oceans ecosystem, how are people supposed to know they shouldn't be consumed? Spreading awareness surrounding this worrying problem is utmost importance before its too late for these beautiful sharks.
AMAZON SHARK BAN
Urge Amazon to BAN the sale of Shark Souvenirs
Over 100 million sharks die every year at the hands of humans, this problem directly relates to the sale of shark souvenirs. Amazon is one of the worlds largest providers of goods and by allowing the sale of shark souvenirs they are sending the wrong message. We have been pushing, campaigning & fighting Amazon since the beginning of the year in order to get them to ban shark products on their USA platform. We successfully got the shark pups in bottles removed and could not of done it without your amazing support, our gratitude is endless. Unfortunately Amazon has refused to remove the ENDANGERED Mako Shark Teeth from their platform. For now we have decided to put our time and energy into our next important project. We haven't finished our work with Amazon, but have decided energy needs to be spent elsewhere at the moment. Thank you so much for all the support you continue to show OceanKin. #AMAZONSHARKBAN
